Piqué Doesn’t Rule Out Return to Barcelona: ‘Could Have a Great Impact…
Gerard Piqué, one of the most emblematic players of the last decade, left his mark during his tenure at Camp Nou, making it clear on more than one occasion that the presidency was a position he wouldn’t rule out in the future.
In an interview with Sky Sports, Piqué stated that he could have “a great impact on the club” if he were to run for president, but he added that now is not the right time to attempt it. “If I can help my club… I’ve been a Barcelona fan since I was a child, going to Camp Nou every Sunday. If I can help in any way, I want to do it. It’s something I feel inside me,” Piqué said.
“I don’t think now is the time. I’m focused on the Kings League; we’re in an expansion process,” he added about his current professional moment and the competition he created just over a year ago.
“You never know in the future, but it could be an option. I never like to close doors. Being president of Barcelona is a great responsibility, but it could have a great impact on the club if I decide to try it at some point. In the future, I may explore that possibility, but not now.”
