Pau Cubarsí, aged just 17 years and 82 days, made his debut for Spain’s senior national team on Friday. The FC Barcelona defender continues his meteoric rise, impressing both his club and the national team selectors. Sporting the number 26 jersey, he entered the field in the 83rd minute, replacing Laporte.

Cubarsí made his debut for FC Barcelona on January 18, 2024, in a Copa del Rey match against Unionistas de Salamanca. Since then, he has played a total of 13 matches (10 in the league, two in the Copa del Rey, and one in the Champions League), accumulating 1,110 minutes on the field.

Arriving at La Masía from Girona in 2018, Cubarsí has showcased his talents with his excellent ball distribution, anticipation, and bravery on the pitch. He has been a captain for most of FC Barcelona’s youth teams.

Cubarsí joins a list of young players under 20 who have represented Spain in the past 16 years, including several from the Barcelona academy such as Bojan, Ansu Fati, Eric García, Pedri, Gavi, and Lamine Yamal.
