Barça Studios Dives into Videopodcast Territory with ‘El Podcast del presidente Joan Laporta
Barça Studios has delved into the burgeoning world of videopodcasts, a form of audiovisual narrative that has gained popularity on streaming platforms. The club has decided to venture into this format with a new product, “El Podcast del presidente Joan Laporta,” where the Club’s leader discusses various sporting, institutional, and social aspects alongside journalists Míriam Nadal and Llorenç Tarrés.
The goal is to make it a key communication channel for members, supporters, and fans, offering informal conversations on relevant Barça topics.
In the inaugural episode, the Barça president touched on a hot topic in the club’s current landscape: the decision regarding the new shirt supplier. In this regard, Laporta expressed optimism:
“We are working to have the best equipment supplier contract in the world,” he said about a decision that could shape the coming years. “Barça is the team that sells the most shirts and must have the best contract in the market,” he reiterated.
“We have three options on the table: the current supplier (Nike), with whom we have had a 27-year relationship; we have offers from the market, we know what they would pay us, they are very interesting offers and we know them; and we have the BLM business line,” he confirmed about the club’s different options.
“In businesses with new technologies like with Barça Studios, we need partners to help us, but not in this case. BLM is lucky to know the market. We know what can be paid for the Barça shirt, the efforts Nike is making to stay, and finally, the option of creating and distributing the clothing ourselves, which is not a utopia,” insisted the Barça president.
In addition to the president’s podcast, “Barra Lliure” is also being launched, a weekly videopodcast that explores the Club’s rich sporting legacy with journalist Robert Van Eeckhout and various contributors. This space will address memorable matches, legendary figures, and iconic coaches through segments like the Top 10 and passionate debates.
Both videopodcasts will be available on the FC Barcelona hub on Spotify, along with other productions such as Matchday playlists featuring the favorite songs of the Club’s players, as well as content related to the Club’s Museum. Additionally, they will soon be available on Barça One, the new free OTT platform with a selection of Barça content.
Barça Studios plans to launch more videopodcast productions in the coming months, covering topics related to current sports events, the Club’s history, and the FC Barcelona Foundation.
