Giráldez Leaves Door Open for Barcelona Return

After orchestrating yet another masterclass against Real Madrid (0-3), Jonatan Giráldez hinted at a potential return to Barcelona when questioned about his last Clásico before embarking on his new journey leading the Washington Spirit in the United States’ league.

“I experienced it like any other game. When I prepare for the week, I don’t dwell on whether it’s the last one. Playing against Real Madrid is always special, and every match has ended in victory, which makes me very happy,” summarized the Vigo-born coach before reminding that he still has a long career ahead: “I don’t like getting sentimental. I’m still a very young coach, and I don’t like talking about farewells because you never know.”

The current Barcelona coach analyzed the footballing gap that still exists with Real Madrid: “Barcelona has been working in a direction for many years, from the grassroots, youth academy, and our reserve team is also leading. Whether the Clásico becomes more balanced doesn’t depend on me; my job is to work, and what other teams do is not my concern.” Nevertheless, he applauded for securing the league title: “We had the challenge of finishing twelve points ahead, and we achieved it.”
