Sergi Roberto, FC Barcelona’s captain, expressed satisfaction with his team’s 1-0 victory over UD Las Palmas at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys on Saturday. “Our goal was to win. Now, it’s time to focus on PSG,” remarked the homegrown midfielder.

Acknowledging the challenge posed by Las Palmas, Roberto admitted, “It was tough to break them down, especially with their high defensive line. We had to be precise with our passes.” Despite the narrow victory, he noted, “We created chances but lacked the finishing touch. Nonetheless, we’re happy with the win, which was our objective. Now, it’s all about preparing for the Champions League match against PSG.”

Reflecting on his partnership with Gündogan in midfield, Roberto praised his teammate, saying, “Playing alongside Gündogan is a pleasure. He’s a fantastic player. We played together against Atlético Madrid, and we have a strong team. Whoever plays, performs well.”

Highlighting Barcelona’s defensive solidity, Roberto pointed out, “We’ve kept five clean sheets, showing our defensive resilience and the right mentality for the upcoming Champions League game on April 10th in Paris.”

Grateful for the applause from the fans, Roberto remarked, “It’s always special to receive ovations. Barcelona is my club, and I truly appreciate the support from the fans, especially here at Montjuïc Stadium, which isn’t the Camp Nou.”

Regarding the La Liga title race, Roberto commented, “We’ve done our job this matchday. Now it’s up to them (Real Madrid) against Athletic. It will be a tough game. The ideal gap to take to the Bernabéu? If we can reduce it to, for example, five points at their stadium, we’ll still be in the fight.”
