Xavi Named Ambassador for FC Barcelona Foundation

In an official announcement made today during a private event attended by President Joan Laporta, Marta Segu Estruch, Director of the FC Barcelona Foundation, and Xavi Hernández himself, it has been confirmed that Xavi has taken on a new role as ambassador for the Foundation.

The Barcelona coach was photographed alongside Laporta and Segu at the FC Barcelona training facility, sporting a Foundation-branded jersey with his name on it. Reports from ‘Catalunya Ràdio’ hinted at the possibility that this appointment could be a nod from the club towards Xavi regarding a potential contract extension.

In statements released by the club, Xavi expressed his pride in becoming the Foundation’s ambassador. “It’s an honor and a great satisfaction. We are in a privileged position to help those in need,” he began.

“We must do it. As Johan Cruyff said, if you have the opportunity to help someone, you should do it. I feel good helping people. We can change the lives of many individuals; football is a spectacular tool for changing dynamics, and I believe we are in the right place, at the right club, and at the right time to change the lives of many people. We are fortunate to have this privilege.”

Laporta emphasized Xavi’s suitability for this role. “We are proud that a Barcelona legend, a person with Xavi’s personality and ability to help, has accepted to be the Foundation’s ambassador,” he stated.

“Xavi interprets and explains these Barcelona values. He perfectly understands the meaning of ‘More than a club’ and knows the significance of representing the Barça badge both on and off the field. Furthermore, he demonstrates social commitment and involvement in all the humanitarian causes that the Foundation develops through its actions and programs. Xavi, who is part of the club’s emblem, is also part of our soul, which is the Foundation; it’s fantastic.”

Similarly, Segu expressed her delight in having someone of Xavi’s stature join the project. “We know that Xavi is one of ours, from within, where the values of Barça are learned, and now he will be part of the Foundation, the soul of Barça. It is the entity that promotes these values, therefore, Xavi is the best person at this time to lead this position as ambassador for the Foundation.”
