Lewandowski, Iñigo Martínez, and Cancelo’s Suspensions Confirmed; Barcelona Eyes PSG Clash
The Competition Committee has confirmed the one-match suspension for FC Barcelona players Lewandowski, Iñigo Martínez, and Cancelo due to accumulation of yellow cards.
The trio will miss the upcoming league match against Cádiz on April 13th, but barring any setbacks, they will be available for the highly anticipated clash against their arch-rivals on April 21st.
Among the three players, the forward and the full-back are the most likely candidates to start in the classic fixture. Before that, Barcelona will face three matches: the first leg of the quarter-finals against PSG on April 10th, the league encounter against Cádiz on the 13th, and the second leg against PSG on the 16th. Xavi will need to find solutions for the upcoming league match next Saturday.
In Lewandowski’s absence, Xavi has the option to field Vitor Roque as a starter, although Ferran Torres, who has already played some minutes against Las Palmas, is another possibility. Xavi has often utilized the former Manchester City player in this role, although he has seen limited minutes since recovering from his muscle issues.
Héctor Fort or Marcos Alonso are alternatives to Cancelo for the left-back position. Normally, Alonso would be the favorite, but he has not played a single minute since returning from injury. As for Iñigo Martínez, Cubarsí has cemented his place in the starting lineup in recent weeks.
