Laporta: ‘Barça One is Our Window to the World’
Barcelona President Joan Laporta unveiled the club’s new content platform, Barça One, on Thursday at the Auditori de la Torre Glories. The event was attended by Laporta, most members of his board, and the entire first-team squad, as well as players from the futsal, handball, and roller hockey teams. Representing the women’s team were Cata Coll, Gemma Font, Marta Torrejón, and Jana Fernández.
Laporta welcomed everyone to the platform, expressing gratitude to Toni Cruz for his efforts in bringing Barça One to life. “It will be a reference point for all Barça fans,” Laporta remarked. “We will have the best audiovisual platform of all sports clubs, offering live broadcasts, news, new programs, and 1500 hours of archived content. It’s more than a platform; it’s a window to the world, providing free access to Barça content for fans worldwide.”
Toni Cruz, the director of Barça One, and digital expert Elena Neira provided further insights into the platform. Barça One will be free for everyone, ad-free for club members, and available for €1.99 per month for non-members. Content will be offered in Catalan, Spanish, and English, with each registered user able to have up to four profiles. The platform will feature documentaries, such as the recent “Orígens” featuring Araujo, with the next installment focusing on Alejandro Balde.
Mireia Germán will anchor news broadcasts in Catalan and Spanish, while “Barça Life” with Marc Brau and Edgar Fornós will return, premiering with coverage of the PSG vs. Barça match. Live broadcasts of youth football and other sections will also be available, hosted by Pol Martínez.
Among the attendees were Barcelona coach Xavi and his wife, Núria Cunillera, with Xavi expressing enthusiasm for Barça One: “My mother is the happiest about Barça One; she’s a bigger fan than anyone and already has the app installed.” Ronald Araujo also shared his excitement, saying, “If I had to choose one image from the footage, it would be my signing for Barça.”
Captains from other professional sections, such as Sergi Panadero, seized the opportunity to rally support for their upcoming matches, urging fans to back them in their game against Sporting de Portugal.
The event concluded with Laporta and team captains downloading the Barça One app onstage, facilitated by bracelets distributed at the entrance of the Auditori de la Torre Glories.
