Lewandowski’s Future Plans: Barcelona Beckons When Boots Are Hung Up

Robert Lewandowski, once a stalwart at Bayern Munich, made the decision to leave the comfort of an established project to join Joan Laporta’s Barcelona under Xavi’s leadership.

The Polish striker harbored the dream of donning the Blaugrana colors before retiring from professional football. Moreover, he and his wife Anna envisioned Barcelona as the ideal city to enjoy a better life with their young daughters, Klara and Laura. Lewandowski’s aspirations, both in his career and personal life, have been fulfilled in Barcelona.

Anna has openly expressed her desire to settle, if not permanently, for extended periods in Barcelona, where she has initiated personal projects. Now, it’s the Barcelona forward who has hinted at the possibility of staying in Barcelona after hanging up his boots.

In an interview with ‘WP SportoweFakty,’ Lewandowski stated, “It’s hard to predict what I will do when I finish my career, but Barcelona is definitely a city we will return to. Of course, we will also go to Warsaw and Poland, because we have family and friends, but when we have more time, we will return to Barcelona. It’s a city where we feel we can stay after my career ends.”

Barring any unforeseen twists in the transfer market, the Lewandowski family will remain in Barcelona for two more years, the duration of the Polish striker’s contract with Barcelona. Beyond that, Lewandowski’s future will hinge on his physical condition. He hasn’t ruled out continuing his career post-2026, whether with Barcelona or elsewhere, stating, “It all depends on how I feel physically and what my heart says. There are many things I haven’t started thinking about yet because it’s not the right time. I still see everything going well on the field and in training.”
