Danilo: ‘We Won’t Focus on Lamine Yamal

Danilo Pereira, chosen by PSG to speak at the press conference ahead of the first leg of the Champions League round of 16 against FC Barcelona, discussed his team’s preparations and addressed the potential threat posed by Lamine Yamal.

The midfielder emphasized the impact of Luis Enrique in fostering a more cohesive PSG compared to previous seasons. “Luis Enrique is giving opportunities to all players. The mindset has changed, even in training, when things aren’t going well, we lift our heads and move forward,” he emphasized.

Speaking about Luis Enrique, Danilo added, “I feel that the pressure is different this season, but the coach instills serenity and calmness. It’s important in these types of games to focus solely on the match.”

Danilo refrained from overconfidence, stating, “It will be a balanced tie. Given Barcelona’s Champions League history, they would be favorites, but anything can happen. We need to remain calm.”

Regarding player specifics, he highlighted Marquinhos as a role model for all PSG players. “He arrived 11 years ago and is a captain who is always there for others.” Addressing Hakimi’s absence, he mentioned that both Brazilian and Zaire-Emery “can play in his position.” He noted Hakimi’s contribution to their defense but lamented his suspension for the upcoming match.

Regarding terrorist threats, Danilo commented, “We focus on the game because there are people responsible for stadium security,” expressing confidence that the focus will remain on the on-field action.
