Marta, Bronze, and Brugts Receive Rapturous Welcome at Canaletes

The FC Barcelona women’s team gears up for the first leg of the Champions League semi-finals against Chelsea on Saturday, April 20 (13:30 CET). It marks the sixth consecutive season – seventh in its history – that the Blaugrana have reached the penultimate round of Europe’s top competition. In their last appearance, they faced the same Chelsea side, who put up a tough fight despite a 0-1 first-leg defeat, ending with a 1-1 draw at Camp Nou, witnessed by 72,262 spectators.

Following their victory over Norwegian side Brann, Barcelona began selling tickets for the showdown against Chelsea at the Estadi Olímpic de Montjuïc, aiming to fill the 50,319 seats. To achieve this historic sell-out, the club decided to get closer to the fans. This afternoon, three first-team players – Marta Torrejón, Lucy Bronze, and Esmee Brugts – took part in the customary fan encounters at one of the club’s official stores. The setting for this meet-and-greet was the Canaletes store, a sprawling 1,900-square-meter space spread across three floors located on La Rambla, near the iconic Canaletas fountain.

Hundreds of fans eagerly awaited the arrival of the three players, who warmly engaged with supporters, chatting, posing for photos, and signing various memorabilia. Marta, Bronze, and Brugts were accompanied by Xavi Puig, the club’s director responsible for women’s football.
