Aitana and Cata Coll Return to Group Training
FC Barcelona returned to training with the complete squad on Thursday, following the return of the internationals from the penultimate break of the season. Jonatan Giráldez is already preparing for the upcoming league commitment against Villarreal this Saturday, but with an eye on the first leg of the Champions League semifinals.
Players such as Alexia, Paredes, Ona Batlle, Mariona, Salma, Vicky López, Engen, Walsh, Bronze, Brugts, Bruna, Dragoni, Martina, and Lucía Corrales rejoined training, which the rest of the team resumed on Tuesday after a few days of rest. They also played a preparation friendly against Paraguay last Thursday.
Aitana and Cata Coll, who were eventually dropped from the Spain squad due to minor discomfort, participated in most of the session with the rest of the group and could be available for the match against Villarreal. Jana, who played a few minutes in the friendly against Paraguay, could also be included. Meanwhile, Graham continues to work separately with the aim of being fit for the clash against Chelsea at Montjuïc.
THE MOMENT OF TRUTH The Blaugranas now face the most crucial stretch of the season. With the Supercopa already secured, the league title practically sealed, and a place in the Copa de la Reina final confirmed – scheduled for May 18 in Zaragoza – the main challenge is to repeat the feat in the Champions League, aiming for the third title.
The semifinals against Chelsea are the only hurdle between Barça and San Mamés, where the final will be held on May 25. The first leg will be next week, on Saturday, April 20, at 13:30 CET, at the Estadi Olímpic. The return leg will be on Saturday, April 27, at Stamford Bridge. It’s the same matchup as last year, but this time with the away leg. Graham scored in both matches last season (0-1 in the first leg, 1-1 in the second).
