Cubarsí and Lamine Feature in Catalunya – Panama Promotion… Will They Play?
The Catalonian Football Federation (FCF) sparked excitement this morning by sharing an image featuring two FC Barcelona players: Pau Cubarsí and Lamine Yamal. These two footballers, familiar faces in the Catalunya youth teams, might receive a call-up to the senior squad for the friendly match against Panama on May 29th. However, the social media post merely teased a jersey giveaway rather than confirming their inclusion in the squad.
Nevertheless, it’s highly likely that both Cubarsí and Lamine will be summoned by Gerard López for the match scheduled at the Estadi Municipal de la Nova Creu Alta (Sabadell). Their availability aligns well with the conclusion of FC Barcelona’s official season, slated to end on May 25th-26th with the 38th round of LaLiga EA Sports against Sevilla. While there’s speculation about a potential friendly in South Korea post-Sevilla match, FC Seoul’s schedule could pose challenges.
As for the Spanish national team’s Euro 2024 preparations, the camp won’t commence by May 29th. The squad announcement by Luis de la Fuente is set for May 27th, with both Barcelona players likely candidates.
Pending official confirmation, Cubarsí and Lamine stand a good chance of featuring for Catalunya in the friendly against Panama. Alongside them, players like Sergi Roberto and Oriol Romeu could also don the Senyera.
