Ter Stegen and Gündogan to Feature in Euro 2024
German national team coach Julian Nagelsmann has announced the official squad for the upcoming Euro 2024, to be held in Germany from June 14 to July 14. Among the selected players are two from FC Barcelona: goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen and midfielder Ilkay Gündogan.
The squad also includes two players from Real Madrid: central defender Antonio Rüdiger and midfielder Toni Kroos, who recently returned to the national team after announcing his retirement following Euro 2021. The list comprises 27 players, with Nagelsmann set to cut one before the tournament begins, likely one of the four goalkeepers.
The German Football Association had been teasing some names to the media and on social networks to build anticipation, finally revealing the full roster on Thursday. This selection marks a shift, with the exclusion of veterans like Goretzka, Hummels, Gnabry, Timo Werner, and Adeyemi. Instead, it highlights players from Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen and Stuttgart.
