Leeds United set to miss out on signing Barcelona prospect Ilias Akhomach
Leeds United’s pursuit of Barcelona’s Ilias Akhomach seems to have come to an end, as the 19-year-old winger is expected to sign for another club this summer. Akhomach is out of contract, and with no new deal in sight, he has been taken out of the Barca Atletic team. Several clubs have been linked with the talented youngster, including Sevilla, Milan, and Arsenal, but it appears that Leeds United’s interest has waned.
According to Sport, the departure of coach Javi Gracia and Sporting Director Victor Orta has caused the deal to collapse. Orta had been the driving force behind the move for Akhomach, and without him, Leeds United may have lost their chance to sign the young winger. Sport suggests that Arsenal may be offering the most money, which could sway Akhomach’s decision.
Sevilla, on the other hand, could offer Akhomach the chance to stay in Spain and potentially get more playing time in a top league. While the club has several talented wingers such as Lucas Ocampos, Suso, and Erik Lamela, Bryan Gil and Papu Gomez may not be at the club next season, opening up opportunities for Akhomach.
Leeds United may be disappointed to miss out on Akhomach, as the club had reportedly been scouting the winger for several months. However, the club will likely continue to pursue other targets as they look to strengthen their squad for the upcoming season.
