Frank Kessie seeks to end winless streak at Barcelona

Barcelona midfielder Franck Kessie has had a mixed first season at Camp Nou. The Ivorian international arrived on a free transfer from Milan last summer and was expected to be a bit-part player. However, he has gone on to become a crucial weapon for Barcelona at times, only to then return to the bench.

Kessie enjoyed a run of starts in February and early March, filling in for the injured Pedri and impressing in key games such as the Europa League match against Manchester United and the Copa del Rey clash against Real Madrid, where he provided the assist for the winner. He also scored the winner off the bench against Real Madrid in La Liga at the end of March.

However, since then, Kessie has started just 2 out of 10 matches, with the return of Frenkie de Jong, Sergio Busquets, and Pedri to the team playing a significant role in his lack of playing time. According to Relevo, Kessie was starting to show his best self in a Barcelona shirt, but has since returned to his role as a habitual substitute in April.

Although he has shown his worth in certain circumstances, his contribution over the course of the season has been inconsistent, with limited opportunities to showcase his talents. As a result, Barcelona may consider selling him, with Inter Milan keeping a close eye on his situation.

Despite the frustrations of the season, Kessie has proven that he can be a useful player for Barcelona, and he will likely be looking to break his current run of starts on the bench to prove his worth once again.
