Real Betis president confirms Barcelona have not made a move for their target midfielder

Barcelona’s search for a new pivot ahead of next season has taken them to Real Betis’ Guido Rodriguez, with Sofyan Amrabat reportedly their first choice. However, Betis President Angel Haro has stated that the Catalan giants have yet to make an approach to sign the World Cup winner, who has one year left on his deal at the club.

Haro went on to add that Rodriguez is an important player for Real Betis and they would like him to continue with them. He also addressed the rumours linking the player to Barcelona, saying that the club has not been contacted by the Catalan giants.

Barcelona’s need for a new pivot comes after reports that Sergio Busquets will be leaving the club once his contract expires at the end of the season. The La Liga leaders are reportedly working on deals ahead of the summer transfer window, and if they are serious about signing Rodriguez, an official approach to Betis will likely be made soon.

Rodriguez has been a key player for Real Betis this season, making 36 appearances in La Liga and helping the club to a mid-table finish. The Argentine international joined Betis in January 2020 from Club America, and has quickly established himself as one of the best defensive midfielders in La Liga.
