Espanyol’s young forward to receive call up from Xavi Hernandez amid attacking dilemma
Barcelona are gearing up for their crucial La Liga match against rivals Espanyol on Sunday night, with the title on the line. Xavi Hernandez has had 12 days to prepare for the match and is expected to go with his strongest line-up, including Gavi on the left side of attack. However, the right-wing position is a question mark, with Ousmane Dembele slowly making his comeback from injury and potentially replacing Raphinha in the starting lineup.
In addition, left winger Estanis Pedrola could be promoted from the Barca Atletic side for the match, as Lamine Yamal is on youth international duties and Angel Alarcon is ruled out for several months. Pedrola has shown flashes of potential under Rafa Marquez, and his inclusion would provide an extra option on the bench.
Barcelona are missing Sergi Roberto due to injury, but otherwise have a fully fit squad for the game. If they win, they will secure the La Liga title and start preparing for their title celebration, including an open-top bus parade the following day. However, Espanyol will be motivated to spoil their rivals’ party and prevent them from clinching the title on their home turf.
