Barcelona’s Quest for Yannick Carrasco Hits Roadblock as Atletico Madrid Shows Disinterest in Swap Deal

Barcelona’s pursuit of Yannick Carrasco from Atletico Madrid has hit a stumbling block as the two clubs struggle to agree on the terms of the deal. While all parties involved are open to a transfer, there is a significant discrepancy in the valuation of the player.

Reports suggest that Carrasco is available for a fee ranging between €16m and €19m, but Barcelona is reluctant to exceed €9m for the 29-year-old, considering his contract expires next summer. Despite Carrasco’s eagerness to make the move, Atletico Madrid is firm on the agreed-upon clause and unwilling to negotiate.

Barcelona had initially hoped to explore a potential swap deal involving their winger Ferran Torres, offering cash in addition to Carrasco. However, Diego Simeone and Atletico Madrid have shown no interest in acquiring the former Valencia player.

As a result, the situation remains deadlocked, with Carrasco possibly staying at the Metropolitano for the foreseeable future. Both clubs seem steadfast in their positions and unwilling to compromise.

Carrasco has recently reclaimed a spot in Atletico Madrid’s starting lineup under Simeone and has been performing impressively. While Los Colchoneros would likely consider selling him for the right price, they are aware that Premier League clubs could easily match or surpass Barcelona’s offer if Carrasco is determined to leave. On the other hand, Simeone may be content to retain Carrasco for another year based on his current form.
