Villarreal Secure Barcelona Starlet’s Signature on a Four Year Deal
Villarreal FC has officially announced the signing of promising Barcelona starlet Ilias Akhomach on a four-year contract. The 19-year-old winger joins the Yellow Submarine after his contract with Barcelona expired, allowing him to make the move on a free transfer.
Akhomach’s departure from Barcelona was preceded by halted negotiations between the player and the club several months ago. As a result, he concluded his stint with Barca Atletic prematurely after making 23 appearances. Although he only featured in three matches for the first team last season, his potential and talent have caught the attention of several clubs.
Despite interest from Sevilla, Milan, Leeds United, and Arsenal over the past six months, Akhomach ultimately chose Villarreal as his next destination. The Spanish winger is currently representing Spain’s under-19 side at the European Championships, and he will join Villarreal upon the conclusion of their campaign.
Ilias Akhomach is regarded as one of the most promising wide players in Spain, and Villarreal has successfully convinced him of their plans for his development. With Nicolas Jackson set to leave the club and Samuel Chukwueze potentially following suit, Villarreal will benefit from replenishing their squad with young talent like Akhomach. While he may still have some way to go before becoming a prominent threat to defenders in La Liga, this signing represents a prudent investment for the future of the club.
