Former Barcelona and Spain manager Luis Enrique has officially been appointed as the head coach of Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), as confirmed by the club. The 53-year-old has signed a contract that will keep him at PSG until 2025.

After leaving his position as the Spanish national team manager last summer, Enrique had been without a club. However, his impressive track record, including a successful three-year stint as the manager of Barcelona from 2014 to 2017, caught the attention of PSG. During his time at Barcelona, Enrique secured two La Liga titles, three Spanish Cups, a Champions League trophy, and a FIFA Club World Cup.

Enrique’s association with Barcelona goes beyond his managerial tenure. He also had a distinguished playing career with the club from 1996 to 2004. Interestingly, it has been reported that he has agreed to a ‘non-aggression pact’ with Barcelona.

According to Diario Sport, PSG has committed not to pursue any Barcelona players. This agreement comes in the wake of PSG’s previous successful recruitment of Neymar, for whom they paid a record-breaking €222 million release clause. More recently, there were speculations linking Barcelona’s young talents, Gavi and Pedri, with potential moves to PSG.

With this ‘non-aggression pact’ in place, Barcelona can now breathe a sigh of relief, knowing that there is no immediate risk of losing two of their most promising players to PSG. The agreement provides a sense of security for the Catalan club, ensuring that they can focus on developing their talented youngsters without the constant worry of them being lured away by the Parisian club.
